NeonTables aims to meet WCAG 2.1 level AA. Specifically:
- Everything works with a keyboard alone. Arrow keys move between cells; Enter and Tab jump to the next empty cell; Shift reverses direction.
- Color is never the only signal. Wrong answers are red and marked with ✗ and a dashed border; completed rows and columns are green and marked with ✓; pre-filled cells use a dotted border.
- The focused cell has a high-contrast outline, and its row and column headers are highlighted.
- Each cell has a text label ("7 times 8") for screen readers, and the remaining-cell count is announced as it changes.
- Text and controls scale with the browser's zoom and text-size settings; the table resizes to fit the screen.
- On touch screens, an on-screen number pad pops up next to the cell or tables field you tap.
- Motion is limited to a short highlight fade, and it is disabled when the operating system requests reduced motion.
Known limits: the neon color scheme is intentionally high-saturation, which some users find tiring over long sessions; the browser's zoom, reader mode, or a high-contrast extension can be used to soften it. Because the site is fully client-side and holds no data, it can be freely copied and restyled to suit a particular student's needs.
